Invisible Fences for Dogs and Cats

Most people are aware that the invisible fence containment system works great for dogs, but did you know it could also work for your feline friends? They now make collars and systems that work effectively for cats as well as dogs and enable you to safely let your pet outdoors while knowing that they'll be contained.

The invisible fence is an effective method for containment no matter where you live. Some systems can offer you five acres worth of containment for your pet, while others are designed for small breeds and small yards. The system works effectively with a few weeks of training, and believe it or not, it's well known that there are very few pets that don't respond.

The training method is very simple, after you've installed your electronic fencing containment system, you'll then attach a collar to your dog or cat. Make sure that you have the appropriate collar and that it fits appropriately and is not too big or too small for the particular cat or dog. You'll also be placing small flags within a certain distance of the invisible fencing system, these are visual aids to help your pet understand the system.

As your cat or dog gets close to the flags and the containment system, a beep be emitted from the collar. The closer your pet gets to the invisible fence line, the louder the beep, and eventually a small static shock is emitted. This small static shock is actually not painful, and most dogs and cats respond to it just fine. The best part about this small shock for your cats and dogs is the fact that they understand the flags represent a boundary. It's vital that you keep your collar on your pet, whether it's a cat or a dog using the invisible fencing system in order to help them understand completely the boundaries of your property.

If you let your cat or dog outside without their collar on, there's a good chance that they're going to begin to recognize that the collar is the containment system and not the boundary. Therefore, periodically check your batteries and periodically take the collar for a walk yourself. Hold the collar by the webbing and then listen carefully for the tone representing the boundary.

The proper collar is important and the cat collars are extremely light weight and keep your cat very comfortable. There are specially made for the feline breed, and yet work just as well as containing your dog in the invisible fence system.

If you need a containment system for your four footed friends, look to the invisible fences for dogs and cats and know that your pet is safe while playing or exercising outside.
